Neutralizer Use In Hospitals And Health Care Institutions
   

Hospitals use a wide range of chemicals that include acid, alkali reagents, tissue preservation chemicals, and sterilants. When there are accidental spills of those products, the implications can go beyond simply "cleaning up the mess". Inadequate spill response can lead to unnecessary injury of personnel, extended downtime for essential laboratories, excessive hazardous waste disposal cost and loss of productivity. The use of VYTAC products can help in dealing with spills in an effective manner. Hospitals are coming under pressure to minimize their generation of hazardous wastes. Using outside contractors to treat wastes can be an expensive and sometimes inconvenient procedure. Liquid wastes must be handled and stored, further increasing the risks of accidents. VYTAC FAS (absorbent & immobilizer) is completely compatible with GNF and FNC so that absorbed spills of formaldehyde or glutaraldehyde can be neutralized simply by placing the absorbed residue in a reservoir containing the appropriate neutralizer.

Hospital Kits

  General Purpose Laboratory Spill Kit ES - MP - LSK

This kit has been developed to deal with spills of acids, alkalis or hydrocarbons that may occur within a laboratory environment. It contains sufficient universal absorbant to absorb approximately 8 - 9 litres of acid and alkali liquid. For hydrocarbon spills, the total absorbancy is approximately 13 - 15 litres.
The VYTAC neutralizers provided will render the spilled material harmless for safe and efficient clean up.


The VYTAC ACX powder can neutralize :

  • 2 litres of sulphuric acid 96%
  • 2.2 litres of phosphoric acid
  • 2.6 litres of nitric acid 70%
  • 5 litres of hydrochloric acid

The VYTAC CS powder can neutralize:

  • 1.8 litres of sodium hydroxide 50%
  • 2.2 litres of potassium hydroxide 45%
  • 3.6 litres of ammonium hydroxide 30%

The sturdy, chemical resistant, polymer cabinet is ideal for wall or counter installation. ( Its dimensions are 69 cm high x 61 cm wide x 31 cm deep.)

MERCURY SPILL KIT MIS - 1

This spill kit has been developed to deal with mercury spills of up to 40 ml (540 grms). The VYTAC MIS when activated with a light water spray will completely immobilize and chemically bind any mercury with which it comes in contact. The VYTAC MVS can be used to coat mercury particles that may rest in inaccessible areas, suppressing their vapour emissions until a full cleanup can be performed.
